2019 Nationwide Conference on Raw Materials for Refractories, organized by Refractories Committee of The Chinese Society for Metals, Sinosteel Luoyang Institute of Refractories Research Co., Ltd. (LIRR), State Key Laboratory of Advanced Refractories, Sinosteel Technology Incubator (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., and Refractories Press, sponsored by Imerys Aluminates Technology Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Zili Advanced Materials Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Jingxin New Materials Co., Ltd., Zhengzhou Yufa Group Co., Ltd., Alteo Shanghai, and Wuhan Sanndar Chemical Co., Ltd., was held in Tianjin, China on May 8 to 10, 2019. More than 400 arrivals from relevant universities, institutes, industry organizations and media, manufacturers of refractory raw materials, products and equipment, and trading companies participated in the meeting.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Prof. Wang Zhanmin, Secretary-general of Refractories Committee of The Chinese Society for Metals and Vice President of Sinosteel LIRR. The General Manager of Sinosteel Scie-tech Development Co., Ltd. and Executive Director of Sinosteel LIRR Prof. Wang Shouye delivered opening speeches on behalf of the organizers. The General Manager of Imerys Aluminates Technology Co., Ltd. Mr. Zhang Hongduo made a welcoming speech on behalf of the sponsors.

This meeting received 116 contributions, after selection, 92 of which were included in the proceedings, including monographs and reviews, synthesis, preparation and application of refractories, energy saving and reuse, and others. The conference technical reports lasted for two days, including 22 expert reports and 20 excellent papers.

An exhibition about "refractory raw materials, equipment and testing instruments" was held at the same time, and 30 enterprises participated in the exhibition. This exhibition provided a platform to display new technologies and new products and opportunities for face-to-face communication for related industries.

The “National Refractory Raw Material Academic Exchange Conference” is one of the brand meetings sponsored by the Refractories Committee of the Chinese Society for Metals. It was originally held on an irregular basis and has been held every two years since 2009.
